Eleni Malakou – Physical Therapist & Yoga Instructor

Eleni is a physical therapist specialized in PNF, Mulligan and Bobath, a Yoga teacher as well as an instructor in anatomy and kinesiology for both Yoga and Pilates Teacher Training.

In 2009, after graduating from the University of Physical Therapy in Thessaloniki, she began her career as a physiotherapist for the treatment of musculoskeletal and neurological patients. In 2012, she completed an additional specialization in pediatric rehabilitation, working as a volunteer in Papageorgiou’s Hospital NICU. Her deep appreciation of the human body led her to specialize in individualized instruction aimed at advancing personal practice, as well as at recovery from injury and chronic pain management.

After ten years of city living, she decided that it was time for a life change. She moved to Mykonos, the island of pure light, golden beaches and deep blue magical water, searching for a simple way of life. She now lives here with her husband and son, practicing physiotherapy, teaching yoga and enjoying island life when she is not attending yoga and physiotherapy courses all over the world.

In her own words: “Yoga became an integral part of my life in 2004 and after seven years as a dedicated practitioner, I became a qualified teacher through NYSY’s Yoga Teacher Training Course in 2011. Since my first experience of yoga, I have been on a path of practicing and teaching the grounding and yet liberating discipline that keeps me real and allows me to turn inward. In listening to your body and soul, you strive for an equilibrium with the world, and the learning is continuous. My teaching approach is alignment-based, dynamic and therapeutic, playful and creative, influenced by Hatha, Vinyasa, Iyengar and Yin yoga traditions. I believe that understanding our own unique body is the key to unlocking its potential and vitality.”
